PROJECT “ALEPH CON 0”

Fondazione Istituto Insubrico Ricerca per la Vita (FIIRV) – Insubrias Bio Park

FIIRV, in addition to the proprietary research organization, is managing the Insubrias BioPark: a technological science park that houses companies related to the world of the “Life Science” supply chain.

The Center was born way back in 1987 as a research center of the Lepetit Group, a company that for many years represented excellence in pharmaceutical research worldwide, and in 1996 it became Biosearch Italia s.p.a., which stood out for its research activity with great results, later merging with the American company Versicor Inc, and then Vicuron Pharmaceuticals. In 2005 Pfizer acquired the patents of the molecules of the research center and in 2006 it donated the structures to the Province of Varese, which established FIIRV and thanks to which it inaugurated the Insubrias BioPark in 2007.

For this reason, FIIRV presented in 2019, based on the measure called “Emblematic Majors” of Fondazione Cariplo, an application for a contribution for the ALEPH CON ZERO project, with the aim of renovating the center and meeting the standards required for the development of Scientific Research and the Life Science supply chain in the Province of Varese.

The project admitted to the grant basically consists of a plant and structural redevelopment of the Insubrias Biopark, through modernization and energy efficiency works.

Here are the main objectives of this projects:

  • Offer a modern and appropriate environment to incubated and to be incubated companies.
  • Increase the territorial attractiveness with reference to companies in the Life Science sector.
  • Increase of the scientific ecosystem on the territory, declined in multiple points of view: environmental, cultural, social, educational and economic.
  • Enhance the center in order to make it a point of reference with international significance and a link for all players in the area, from companies to academic and research institutes.
